It’s Not Me

A Poem by Matthew Linsay

It’s Not Me

It's not me
That knows
Right from Wrong.

It's not me
Moved by joy
To sing this song.

It's not me
That weeps
When you transgress.

It's not me
That shines the light
When you do right.

It's not me
Looking down from above,
Full of mercy
And of love.

It's Him, the Lord, Jesus Christ.
The one who humbled Himself
And gave His life.

For without Him
Our hearts are made of stone.
Without Him
We're mere flesh and bones.

Give praise to the Lord,
Dear Jesus Christ,
For He's the one
That gave us life.

None are righteous;
No, not one,
Without the Father's
Only begotten Son.
